About the event
What defines a photograph as art? Is it the subject, the intention, or how it’s framed? In Indeterminate Focus: Snapshots, Art, & In Between, photographer Barb Cobb explores the fluid boundaries between casual snapshots and fine art photography. Through an eclectic mix of images—both meticulously composed and spontaneously captured—Cobb challenges conventional distinctions, inviting viewers to reconsider the meaning and value of everyday moments frozen in time.
Blurring the line between documentation and artistic expression, this exhibit presents work that is at once intimate and ambiguous. Some images appear accidental, while others suggest careful deliberation, leaving the viewer to question: was this moment planned or merely observed?
Through her lens, Cobb embraces imperfection, motion, and the unexpected beauty of fleeting scenes. Whether through hazy edges, unconventional framing, or subjects caught in mid-motion, Indeterminate Focus celebrates the unpredictability of photography and the richness found in the spaces between.
